Who Is A$AP Mob?

by @Djordje

When folks talk about “loving the crew,” you can imagine they’re referring to a gang like this. A$AP Rocky already told us that members of A$AP Mob lead the same rock-star life that he does, and it’s not hard to believe. These guys aren’t hang-ons or weed carriers. Each member of A$AP has a full-fledged personality and purpose within the group. Sure, a lot of them rap, as you know and expect, but you’ll also find managers, stylists, producers, designers, and more role players branching out from the same collective.

If Andy Warhol’s Factory was relocated to modern-day Harlem, this is what it would look like. The crew has dozens of kids down with the team behind-the-scenes, but after Rocky, there’s seven core members. You might be familiar with one’s Twitter opus or another’s guest verse on Live.Love.A$AP, but do you really know who A$AP Mob is?

(Video) ASAP Rocky & ASAP Mob: Harlem State of Mind

by @Djordje

For the latest Dazed cover story, I went to NYC to meet hip hop’s golden boy, A$AP Rocky and his A$AP Mob to get the low down on his overnight success and to take a tour of the crew’s favourite local spots. After a shopping spree in Soho, the fashion fanatics braved sub zero temperatures for a photo shoot on Harlem’s legendary Rucker Park basketball court with Ari Marcopoulos before heading home to 116th Street for a soul food banquet at Amy Ruth’s. They even squeezed in an impromptu house call on one of their grannies who hadn’t seen Rocky since his videos “Peso” and “Purple Swag” blew up and landed the 24-year-old rapper with a $3 million record deal. The next day I met them and a very large Rottweiler called Brody at a crumbling mansion in New Jersey as they filmed the final scene of Rocky’s “Wassup” video. It was a wild 24 hours…

by @Djordje

“Style defines culture. Our people define style.” What better way to sum up Complex’s February/March 2012 issue, starring style kings A$AP Rocky and Jeremy Scott? Hip-hop’s hottest rookie has been rocking Jeremy’s outrageous designs for years, before LIVE.LOVE.A$AP and that infamous $3 million deal brought his Harlem Mob to the forefront of NYC rap. And while Jeremy is no stranger to hip-hop’s flashiest stars, it’s good to see the veteran fashion icon is still embracing the new generation with open arms. Complex’s Joe La Puma sat down with the two fearless stars for the magazine collaboration of the year. The issue officially hits stands on February 7, but we’re giving you early access to the complete cover story now…
