(Video) A$AP Ferg – Hood Pope

by @Djordje

Ever since A$AP Ferg released his debut studio album Trap Lord in August he’s become a central voice for the streets of Harlem alongside his A$AP Mob brethren A$AP Rocky. He carries himself with a distinguishable wisdom, one that depicts how the 25-year-old rapper was able to turn nothing into something through music. So to call himself the “Hood Pope” is not far off from the truth. The video for Ferg’s latest single shares a parallel theme where the children in his city have accepted the struggle as a way of life. They need someone like Ferg to step in and give them guidance. Yeezus ain’t got nothing on Harlem’s “Hood Pope.”

Premiered via Complex. Directed by Shomi Patwary & A$AP Ferg. Track produced by VERYRVRE.

A$AP Ferg on Rolling Stone’s 20 Best Debuts of 2013

by @Djordje

A$AP Ferg landed at #10 on the Rolling Stone’s list of the top 20 Best Debuts of 2013. See what they had to say below:

This Harlem-bred MC and A$AP Mob member born Darold Ferguson, Jr. assembles a slow, silky, moody debut. He’s the street MC bringing digital hi-hats and trickster flow to the drum circle on “Let It Go,” or hanging out with guys from his crew talking about Jamaican dancehall (the genuinely odd “Shabba,” featuring crew buddy A$AP Rocky).

“Trillmatic” Review by Renowned for Sound

by @Djordje

Creativity is a strange thing.  It comes in all shapes and sizes and people work with it in different ways, some people feel more comfortable on their own, others as part of a group.  A$AP Mob have taken this one step further and created a hip-hop collective, which not only features talented rappers such as A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg, but fashion designers, video directors and producers.  This gives them what any respectful artist craves, the freedom to do whatever the hell they want.

With this in mind, new single Trillmatic shows A$AP Mob revisiting the 90s with an all out throwback track transporting you to a time when hip-hop was taking a firm grasp on the world, reminding the listener what a golden age it was for the genre.

A$AP Rocky Visits Harlem Youth At Risk

by @Djordje

Despite the snowfall outside, A$AP Rocky made his way to his old-stomping grounds in Harlem, N.Y., to give words of encouragement to a few dozen teenagers at the National Black Theatre on Saturday (Dec. 14). The ladies, many of them young mothers, are mentees in Youth At Risk, a non-profit organization that reaches young people in need of empowerment across New York City.

Around 2PM, the rapper walked into the room and was welcomed by screams and shouts. He sat down in a seat beside Simone “Boss Lady” Amelia, a SiriusXM radio personality and mentor with Youth At Risk, who interviewed him about growing up in Harlem and the obstacles he faced before becoming an international star.
