(Video) A$AP Ferg Breaks Down “East Coast” on Genius

by @Djordje

Harlem rapper A$AP Ferg has been an integral part of A$AP Mob’s rise to prominence since the beginning, and his recent Still Striving single “East Coast” featuring Remy Ma shows just how vital he is. The DJ Khalil and Tariq Beats-produced song has over 9 million Spotify streams, and its accompanying music video has been viewed nearly 3 million times on YouTube. “East Coast” is Ferg’s ode to New York City, where he grew up and still resides.

“I wanted to create a song that was very prideful of the East Coast, particularly New York,” Ferg explains to Genius. “I wanted to create an anthem that we could play at the Giants’ stadium. We could play at Madison Square Garden. We could play at Barclay’s Center. And just turn up to.”

A$AP Ferg recently sat down with Genius for the latest episode of Verified and broke down his upbeat track. Watch him go line-for-line with “East Coast” in the video above.

A$AP Ferg Unveils Trap Lord Capsule with adidas Skateboarding

by @Djordje

Following a successful collaboration in 2015, adidas Skateboarding partners with Harlem born hip-hop creative A$AP Ferg for their second collection.

Inspired by the plight of disenfranchised youth in inner-cities, Ferg draws similar parallels from his own experience growing up in New York City, creating unity and celebrating the determination to overcome adversity.

From the mismatched clothing style worn by nomadic youth to mashup of genres, the adidas Skateboarding x Trap Lord collection bridges the gap between skate culture and hip-hop.

A$AP Mob Interview with Complex

by @Djordje

The second installment of the Cozy Tape series dropped last week and ASAP Mob, as a collective, are finally starting to come together. From the beginning, Rocky and Ferg have been the Mob’s breakout stars, boasting a series of hits and platinum and gold albums. Then, after those careers were up and running, the crew lost its founder, ASAP Yams, during the rollout of Rocky’s sophomore album At. Long. Last. ASAP. However, in the aftermath of the tragdy, it seems like losing Yams made the crew stronger, closer, more focused on their music. ASAP Twelvyy finally dropped his long-awaited project 12, Ferg released Still Strivin’ a year after his second album Always Strive and Prosper, and Rocky is set to drop his third solo album later this year, or at least that what he told us at the Cozy Boys, Vol. 2: Too Cozy listening session.

Both Cozy Tapes are more polished than the crew’s first mixtape, Lords Never Worry. The second version, properly titled Too Cozy, features Chief Keef, Key!, new Mob members Playboi Carti and Smooky Margielaa (a 15-year-old from the Bronx), Lil Yachty, Gucci Mane, Schoolboy Q, Joey Badass and Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies, Jaden Smith, Quavo, and Frank Ocean. In short, all their friends, as the first tape was aptly entitled.

Complex had the pleasure of talking to the Mob during a break as they ate Chinese food and smoked trees and caught up on everything from durag-wearing techniques, their favorite songs on Cozy Tapes, Vol. 2, and which Mob member will be dropping next.

A$AP Twelvyy Interview with Acclaim Magazine

by @Djordje

A$AP Twelvyy self prophesised his ‘Last Year Being Broke’ in 2016 but it’s the release of his debut album12 that has him talking about his “first year being rich”. One of the original members of A$AP Mob, Twelvyy has often taken a backseat, letting Rocky and Ferg take the lead. With countless tour supports and features Twelvyy’s album is an incredible culmination of all the lessons he’s learnt over the years–a testament to his growth as well as a tribute to A$AP Yams.

Hailing from the streets of Harlem, Twelvyy proudly represents his city throughout 12. His brothers from A$AP Mob all feature heavily on the album. In between stories of violence, losing one’s innocence and the projects he is infectiously joyful. One of the best moments on the album is on ‘Hop Out’ with A$AP Ferg where Twelvyy matches his flow with a brotherly playfulness. Twelvyy does feel like the little brother of the crew who has found his footing but after we spoke on the phone it seems that rather than having found his way, he’s just found the right time. Timing is everything and with the spotlight finally on Twelvvy he is ready to embrace it. “I want the people to get to know me, I want to get the know people, I want to know how they feel about me, I want to know what’s up.”
