Smooky MarGielaa turned heads last year with his melodic features on A$AP Mob’s project ‘Cozy Tapes, Vol. 2: Too Cozy.’ The 15-year-old Bronx rapper kicked off his career as A$AP Rocky’s latest protégé and member of the AWGE collective.

As the son of a famous Malian singer and guitarist, Smooky naturally gravitated towards music and started rapping around 13. He’s continued to impress fans with a slew of solo singles, including the viral bop “Stay ‘100.’”

Produced by French beat-maker CashMoneyAP, the song reflects on Smooky’s newfound success and his desire to stay away from the streets. He tells Genius that he wrote the song during a trip to Los Angeles, as he reflected on all the hate he used to get before he was famous. The track also references the time he tried to sneak into Coachella with his friends.
